How to Install and Configure the CR1100 (w/ Parser)



Download and Install the CR1100 Driver



  1. Do not Plug in the CR1100.

  2. Please download the CR1100 Virtual Com driver from: http://downloads.stopware.com/updates/codereader/cr1100.zip

  3. Plug in the CR1100


Scan the ‘Rest to Factory Defaults’


 Next





Scan “Enable Motion Detection"




Scan “Enable CDC VCOM Mode"


Update the COM Port

  • Navigate to Windows Start> Control Panel> Device Manager

  •  Expand Ports (COMS & LPT) from the list> Right click the 'USB serial Device' and select properties

  •  Select Port Settings> Click Advanced> select the COM Port and update it to 50

  • Reboot the PC


Folder Permissions

The following folders should have full rights for the users: 


- PPGlobal

 - Acuant 

- Programa Data


Give Full Rights to the PPGlobal Folder 

  • Navigate to the “C” drive, right click “PPGlobal” 

  • Select Properties>> click "Edit" 

  • Select Users at the bottom and check "full control" at the bottom>> click "OK"


Give Full Rights to the Acuant Folder

  • Navigate to “C:\Program Files (x86)”, right click “Acuant” • Select Properties>> click "Edit" 

  • Select Users at the bottom and check "full control" at the bottom>> click "OK" Give Full 


Give Full Rights to the Acuant Folder

  • Click on Power OptionsOpen Windows File Explorer

  • Click view on top

  • Check "hidden items"


Give Full Rights to the ProgramData Folder (This folder stores the activation key file)

  • Navigate to to "C:\Program Data right click "CSActAPP"  

  • Select Properties>> click "Edit"

  • Select Users at the bottom and check "full control" at the bottom>> click "OK"


Turn Off Windows Power Saving Features

How to Disable USB Selective Suspend: 

  • Open Control Panel. 

  • Click on Hardware and Sound. 

  • Click on Power Options. 

  • Under "Preferred plans," click the Change plan settings link for the plan you're currently using. ... 

  • Click the Change advanced power settings link. 

  • Expand USB settings. 

  • Expand USB selective suspend setting > Change dropdown to Disabled. 


How to Turn Off USB Power Save Feature: 

  • Open Control Panel 

  • Click on Device Manager 

  • Scroll down and select Universal Serial Bus Controller > Expand 

  • Select USB Root Hub > Right Click > Properties > Power Management 

  • Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” 

  • OK to Save. 

    •  Make sure you perform this step for all USB Root Hub option 



Disable Hybrid Sleep Mode: 

  • Open up Power Options in the Control Panel. ... 

  • Click "change plan settings" next to your current power plan. 

  • Click "change advanced power settings" 

  • Click the + sign next to "Sleep" 

  • Click the + sign next to "Allow hybrid sleep" and change setting to "off" 

  • Click OK. 


Activate the Activation key

  • Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Acuant\SDK >> right click  "activation.exe" and run as administrator

  •  Enter the "activation key" click "Activate on Server"


Add the Cr1100 

  • Log in to PassagePoin as admin

  • Navigate to home> station preferences> hit add at the bottom > select barcode scanner> generic barcode scanner> enter a name> give it a name> select the com port> select baud rate 115200 > click finish


Add the parser

  • In Station Preferences> Click add at the bottom

  • Select Magnetic Stripe Readers > Select Driver license Parser

  • Give the Driver License Parser a name

  • Enter the Activation Key

  • Click 'Test'

  • PassagePoint should return a success prompt

  • Click Finish


Testing the Barcode Scanner:

  • Navigate to Visit Center > Rapid Registration > New Entry > Under the Capture Panel > select ‘ID / License’ > Scan the barcode on the back of an ID to test.


Note:

For some DL that returns invalid barcode check the 'client.log' file for the error below:

To find the client.log file Navigate to the install path: 'PPGlobal\client' and edit the 'client.log' file using any text editor.

The scanner will need to be programmed with the 'Suffix Line Feed'. 

1) Exit PassagePoint > Scan the barcode below.
2) Log in to PassagePoint > Test scan > the scanner should now parse the barcode.
